AI changes the way we search for information

It is up to us how quickly we learn to utilise the potential offered by artificial intelligence (AI).

AI-based search engines (e.g. ChatGPT, Bard or Bing mentioned below) are changing the way we gather information: they analyse databases to provide answers that align with our questions. It’s no longer just a collection of links to other websites, but rather creative text – a source of inspiration or a list of places to expand our knowledge, and much more.

One thing is certain: this is a change we can not ignore. Discover how to effectively and safely make use of AI search engines.

Artificial Intelligence

Discover how to harness AI-powered search engines

Below are a few ideas for how AI-based search engines can be used in everyday life.

We also provide example queries (prompts) that can impact the quality of the answers. Remember, the more detailed (or creative) the query, the more tailored the response. A small hint: ChatGPT performs better in creative topics, while Bing AI search engine excels in precision.

Food

Are you looking for recipe inspiration using the ingredients you have in your fridge? Or perhaps a menu plan for a special occasion? Maybe you need dietary recommendations for specific health challenges? AI-based search engines are the place where you can find interesting suggestions.

Examples of queries:

  • Suggest a vegetarian dinner menu for four people for a birthday celebration.

  • Create a sample meal plan for two people for the entire week, focusing on low-glycemic index foods.

  • Provide snack ideas for a birthday party for preschoolers.

  • What are some lunch dishes that can be prepared using buckwheat?

Idea Generator

Do you need a creative gift idea? A themed party? Suggestions for meeting places with friends in a new city? Or perhaps you’re starting to explore a new hobby and wondering what else you can do?

AI-based search engines can support you with this. Simply enter the relevant phrase, and if needed, ask for more details or modify your query to get the best possible response for you.

Examples of queries:

  • What gift would be suitable for a man interested in motorcycles who already has all the necessary riding equipment?

  • Plan a carnival-themed party for a book lovers’ club.

  • What wall color would work well in an apartment with south-facing windows and predominantly brown furniture and accessories?

  • Provide me with websites where I can learn more about growing vegetables on a balcony.

Travel

AI-powered search engines can be very helpful when planning a trip or seeking inspiration for your next holiday. Enter your dream destination along with the necessary information, and you will receive a plan that will assist you in making decisions on how to spend your time.

Examples of queries:

  • Provide a 2-day sightseeing plan for the most interesting places in Vienna.

  • Where should I spend a vacation in Italy with a 10-year-old child, offering both beach options and nearby attractions for adults to visit?

  • Give me a list of the top 10 most interesting landmarks and tourist attractions in Cracow / London / etc.

  • Prepare a 7-day plan for a car-free vacation in Andalusia.

Community and People

One of the ways to make the most of your spare time is by sharing it with others! AI-powered search engines can help you find communities focused on hobbies or discover cultural events in your area where you can connect with other people.

Examples of queries:

  • Where can I find online groups for those interested in gardening?

  • Where can I find information about new museums in London?

  • Is there an app that can help me find people interested in discussing politics?

  • Create a weekly chess learning plan with recommendations for websites explaining the rules of the game.

Interests and Development

Even when we spend time pursuing our passions and honing our skills, we can encounter creative stagnation and a lack of progress. If we experience a temporary decline in creativity or are unsure of how else to learn something new, it’s worth leveraging AI-powered search engines for assistance.

Examples of queries:

  • Prepare a learning plan for someone who wants to learn the basics of Greek cuisine.

  • Compile a list of online courses for someone interested in learning the fundamentals of computer graphics.

  • Recommend apps for daily English vocabulary learning.

  • Which mountain peaks in the Rocky Mountains range are suitable for beginners to conquer?

Work

Your career and job searching can greatly benefit from the support of AI-powered search engines. With these tools, we can seek advice on preparing for job interviews or request assistance in editing our CVs.

Examples of queries:

  • How can I conduct a salary negotiation conversation with my boss?
  • Prepare a list of companies in Cardiff / Oslo that may be hiring employees in the field of financial controlling.
  • Draft a CV statement for someone interested in French cuisine, crime novels, and gardening.
  • What free tool can I use to edit a photo that I want to include in my CV?

Use the limited trust methods when using AI tools

  • You should not share sensitive/private data.
  • AI tools are not humans, although sometimes it may feel like we are conversing with them.
  • Verify answers with specialists, such as a doctor, if the advice concerns health.
  • Do not entrust important decisions, such as health or finances, solely to an AI tool.
  • The unpredictability of neural networks – we do not know all the possibilities.

Hi,

As an expert in the field of security, I would like to draw attention to certain risks associated with the use of artificial intelligence. AI chatbots are not humans, but computer programs capable of simulating conversations with humans through text or voice. They can be useful in many situations, such as providing information, assistance, or entertainment. However, not all AI chatbots are trustworthy and safe. Some of them can be used to spread false information, steal personal data, or manipulate users. Treat AI-based chatbots as individuals you've met on a tram, bus, or in the park, with whom you enjoy engaging in pleasant conversation. It may be the beginning of a friendly acquaintance, but it can also turn sour. Therefore, I would like to share some advice on how to safely use AI chatbots and avoid dangerous situations.

Dominik Samociuk Head of Security, Future Processing

1.

Do not provide any confidential personal data to chatbots, such as your ID number, credit card number, passwords, email addresses, phone numbers, or residential address. Chatbots may store or transmit this data to third parties without your consent or knowledge. Consider using the “private mode” option – an increasing number of chats allow you to choose an option where your enquiry will not be used for training artificial intelligence.

2.

Do not unconditionally trust the information you receive from chatbots. Chatbots can generate content based on data available on the internet, but they do not have the ability to verify its truthfulness and reliability. Always verify information with other sources and do not be misled by false narratives and conspiracy theories.

3.

“Hallucinations” – it is the fabrication of content by LLM chatbots when they don’t have an answer to our question, and the command we wrote doesn’t require them to admit their lack of knowledge.

4.

Do not ask chatbots for advice regarding health, finances, or other important life matters. Chatbots are not doctors, advisors, or experts in these fields, and they cannot provide you with professional assistance or take responsibility for their advice. Always consult with the appropriate person or institution when needed.

5.

Do not engage in unethical or illegal activities that chatbots may suggest. Chatbots may try to encourage you to participate in scams, crimes, or other actions that are against the law. Do not fall for such propositions and report them to the appropriate authorities, as there will certainly be solutions that will be exploited by criminals.

Examples of AI tools include:

ChatGPT

Which is capable of generating any content based on the input text or question. However, ChatGPT can also create false stories and conspiracy theories that did not exist in the public domain before. Italy has banned the use of this program due to the risk of violating users’ privacy.

Browser icon

Bard

An AI-powered search engine developed by Google (currently not available in all countries). The Bard can assist in creating stories or answering questions. However, the Bard may mislead users with its suggestions.

Cloud icon

Bing

Bing is an internet search engine integreated with AI developed by Microsoft.  It can help you find answers to questions, discover new things, and stay up-to-date with the latest news and trends.

Document icon

Dalle2

Do not ask AI (e.g., Dalle2) to generate images depicting yourself or your loved ones in compromising or uncomfortable situations. These images can be used by blackmailers or criminals to extort money or other benefits from you or your loved ones.

In summary, using AI can be beneficial and useful, but it should be done with caution and care. It is important to always remember that AI is not a human, it lacks consciousness and morality. It cannot be fully trusted or relied upon.
